A fire broke out at a shipyard in Jurong at about 9.20pm Tuesday. Search-and-rescue work is under way for three people missing. According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) put out the fire at 4.30am Wednesday. The fire had started on a tug boat and spread to three adjacent tug boats at Tanoto Shipyard at Jalan Samulun.
According to Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM) four crew members were sent to hospital. One of them is in critical condition at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH).
Additional one vessel sank and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was “conducting a secondary search for casualties”.
One man is reported to have suffered 38% burns to his body. The remaining three casualties were sent to the National University Hospital (NUH). Two were treated for burns while the other is believed to have fractured a finger.
