On a monthly basis the Officer of the Watch Blog publishes a report regarding maritime piracy incidents. The report focuses mainly on vessels of the Merchant Navy (Bulk Carrier, Chemical Tankers, Containerships etc). Up until the date this report is being published the areas of maritime piracy related incidents worldwide are as follows:

  • Arabian Sea: 1
  • East Africa: 3
  • Malacca Strait: 3
  • North Atlantic Ocean: 1
  • South America: 2
  • South China Sea: 11
  • West Africa: 4

ReCAAP Half Yearly Report for 2013

Last month ReCAAP ISC released its half yearly report for 2013. The overall situation of piracy and armed robbery against ships in Asia during the first half of 2013 has improved. A total of 57 incidents comprising 54 actual incidents and three attempted incidents, were reported during the period of January-June 2013 compared to 64 incidents reported during the same period in 2012.
