Monthly PSC Report For October 2012

The following information have been gathered mainly from PSC MoUs sites and may serve only as reference for the inspections being carried out each month by each MoU. The consistency of the information may differ between MoU since there are slight differences on the way each organization presents the inspection info. NKK Noted Detainable Deficiencies

This month the summary of detainable deficiencies noted in PSC inspection reports of NK-SMC ships presents the following findings:

  1. ISM (4 cases): Company not respond ship request, Deficiencies are objective evidence of a serious failure of ISM code
  2. MF/HF radio installation (3 cases): MF/HF installation defective, Unable to start under reserve source, MF/HF DSC (Digital Still Camera) display unreadable
  3. Operation of Fire Protection Systems (3 cases): Officers not familiar with the operation of Fire Alarm and Detect system, Nobody knows where is the isolation valve, Deck officers not given familiarization training with fixed fire fighting systems
  4. Lifeboats (3 cases): Suspension heavily corroded etc, Lifeboat’s hook to be release manually: seized, Motor lifeboat (Stb) stopped 3 times during abandon drill in water
  5. Propulation main engine (3 cases): Main engine water oil leakages, M/E cyl. Heads 1, 4 and 5 water leak, M/E high pressure delivery lines were leaking, braided covers were cut, damaged
